The Advantages of Becoming a Rescue Diver

It goes without saying that diving is an adventurous activity that has a lot of unexpected elements. What starts out as a fun activity can turn into a crisis which is why taking a professional rescue diver course is recommended. There are many advantages to becoming a rescue diver, including:

-Learning First Aid: Any reputable professional rescue diver course teaches it's divers at least the absolute basics of first aid training and CPR, meaning that a certified rescue diver would be helpful in emergency situations not only in the water, but on land too.

-Improved Water Skills: There are a variety of skills that can be learned for use in the water, including swimming, floating, and knowledge on how to safely exit a body of water. By completing a professional rescue diver course, an individual will naturally improve their water skills and gain more knowledge and confidence in the water.

-Saving Lives: When diving in open water with a group of friends, having a rescue diver on hand could make all the difference should an emergency occur. Taking a professional rescue diver course will not only improve your search and recovery skills, teaching you how to locate missing people and navigate below the water, but you will also know what to do in a crisis and could save lives.

Rescue diver courses are designed to teach you a variety of skills that can be applied both in and out of the water. At Sussex Diving & Leisure, our rescue diver course teaches self rescue, how to recognise and manage stress in other divers, emergency management and equipment, how to rescue panicked divers, and how to rescue unresponsive divers.

How your Child Benefits from Diving

Children's diving courses are designed to teach children the basics of scuba diving. From as young as 8 years old, children can begin to learn about scuba diving, being able to actually dive and be certified from the age of 10. While children's maturity, reasoning and swimming skills must be assessed before they start a diving programme, children's diving courses provide many benefits to children other than just learning how to dive, including:

-Improves Critical Thinking: Children's diving courses teaches a child physics, natural science, and maths skills, improving their critical thinking skills in everyday life and in the classroom while having fun.

-Conservation: Research suggests that children who learn to dive at a young age are more likely to be more responsible when it comes to the conservation of our oceans, as they can see the natural world they would be protecting.

A great couple of days at Chepstow. Dave is very supportive and offers great advice. Am definitely planning to do more dives with Dave, and would thoroughly recommend Sussex Diving and Leisure. Thank you.

Passed my dry suit course with Dave at Chepstow at the weekend. Had 2 really good dives. Everyone was really friendly and supportive. Dave teaches in a relaxed fashion which put me at ease, no rushing and without pressure. But I learnt a lot and am looking forward to doing some more diving with Dave and his group. Thanks Dave.
