Last year we bought a unique Trapezoid shaped house near Brighton. It was described as a 'Victorian folly' by the agents. Basically, it was a real mess; built in 3 parts over 100 years and neglected ever since, it has been a huge challenge to redesign for modern family use due to the tricky shape, awkward site and my regular oddball ideas.
John and Yuko have been patiently redeveloping the internal layout and external appearance - first stage completed in March, we are incredibly excited for the rest, its going to be amazing when finished. Pictures to follow!
We worked with John on the full refurbishment of our home. We had an existing brick bungalow that was was converted to include a room in the roof for a master suite and a large ground floor rear eco extension.
John took into account all our brief requirements and converted these into a clear and concise design, which is contemporary in finish and includes our desire for a low-carbon home, including a green roof, rain water recycling and air-source heat-pump.
Clearly I am biased as John is my son, but he handled himself professionally (especially when dealing with family as clients), managed our contractors and delivered a beautiful house. We would recommend John Foat Architects to anyone (and frequently do!).

He's very personable, has an eye for detail, awlays listens and has a wealth of experience with high spec residentials projects. From planning stages to tender process to construction and project completion, John demonstrated a broad range of superb architectural talent. John worked very closely with us to ensure that all our requirements are understood, taken into consideration and are incorporated into the finish and aesthetic we were after. Focussing down on the detail of creating and optimising the plan layouts, managing project on site, liaising with contractors, ensuring high spec requirements from glazing details, bespoke joinery, kitchen layout.
