Tell us about the sales department and the roles they play?
Promain have a Sales Department that consists of experienced sales administrators who have each undergone basic training from the manufacturers on their products. This means that they are able to understand customers requirements and offer information on products that have been selected by the customer. Their job is to process orders through sage, create orders, and either place orders with the manufacturers for direct delivery to the client, or for delivery to our warehouse. The sales team also have a dedicated person who is able to deal with any delivery issues, as well as organising claims against couriers and damaged deliveries. The sales team work closely with our warehouse manager to ensure seasonal products like swimming pool paint, marine paints, anti-foulings, tennis court paints, and anti-slip coatings and tapes are in stock for the short selling windows.
What about the Technical Department? What are their roles on a daily basis?
The Technical Department has undergone extensive training with the manufacturers of the products to learn all the vital information like surface preparation, application, as well as the types of products which are most suited to certain environments. This includes learning all the key information regarding products which have been independently tested by authorities that produce systems for The Highways Agencies, Network Rali and London Underground.
Can you tell us more about how and when Promain was established?
Promain are currently working closely with London Underground’s Design Department to help produce specifications for underground stations as well as rolling stock. Training continues with manufacturers to keep the staff up to speed with the latest products being developed, including water based paints, low solvent, and 100% solids, to ensure we meet new Government guidelines on Health and safety and VOC levels. The Technical department have an extensive knowledge when it comes to industrial paints, which is what makes us so popular among many companies out there who require specific paints and coatings. We also offer excellent technical advice on less industrial, household paints, which are suitable for the general decorator, as well as DIY’s. We are unique because we are an independent distributor offering such a high level of technical advice, as well as producing specifications and attending site visits for clients who need our help.
