Business Of The Month:
Promain UK Limited

Our Q&A Session

Promain UK Limited is our brand new Business Of The Month. We sat down with the owner (Mark) and asked him a few questions.

How Did Your Business Start Up?

Promain was originally operating as a professional maintenance company. As hospital contractors and approved contractors of Decothane roofing systems and waterproofing membrane, we were able to use a wide range of systems for projects including roofs, basements and hospital contracts. Over time, we were able to gain an insight into the systems that we were using, which allowed us to increase our knowledge of the products tenfold. This is something that intrigued us as a company, and we spotted a hole in the market for a dedicated supplier of industrial paints and coatings.

We decided to move into the supply of industrial paints and coatings, to fill the gap in the market. We then started advertising online to various industrial contractors who could use the products that we were supplying, and naturally an e-commerce website was the next step; we felt that if contractors could purchase the paint online without having to visit a physical store, a lot more people would use us.

After the relationships with a few digital agencies deteriorated,
we came across Espresso Web. They began work straight away, working closely with us to fulfil all of our design and technical requirements. When our website was up and running, the growth of our business skyrocketed; we soon found that we needed a team of dedicated technical advisors to accompany the products that we were offering. We have continued our professional relationship with Espresso Web, and they are our go-to agency for all of our digital marketing needs and requirements.

What's A Normal Day Like At Promain?

A normal day for me involves securing new products to supply from manufacturers (such as London Underground LUL Paint Systems; we supply the paint for Moorgate, Whitechapel and all stations in-between. I also carry out site visits to provide both existing and potential clients with advice on which of our paint systems will benefit them the most, depending on their needs and requirements.

I also work alongside our technical advisors, ensuring they provide the best advice to both existing and potential customers.

What’s Your Favourite Thing About Work?

Due to the site visits that I carry out, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting some stunning historical buildings throughout the UK. I also love getting stuck in and helping customers, providing advice and the details of the products that they are interested in; customer contact is something I enjoy and I feel our team of advisors are very good at providing the best advice and technical information to our customers. Making a difference to the lives and businesses of our clients is something that we aim to do, and something that we pride ourselves on achieving.

Can You Tell Us More About The Services You Offer?

There isn’t much more that I can say here, but you can always call us on 01462 421 333 to find out more on the industrial paints and coatings that we offer throughout the UK. All queries will be handled by your very own, dedicated technical advisor.

Is There Any Offers Or Special Deals You Have On At The Minute?

As the UK’s largest industrial paint distributor, we have a lot of purchasing power when it comes to negotiating deals with manufacturers such as Bedec, Sika, PPG, Rust-Oleum, Jotun, Owatrol and Osmo. This means that we are able to pass savings onto our customers, at prices as low as 25% below RRP.

You can find a list of the manufacturers we supply products for here.

Is There Anything Else You’d Like To Add About Your Business?

We believe in traditional values and like to think ourselves as the John Lewis of the paint business. Good, polite customer service is something that we pride ourselves on and helping customers is our number one priority. We never pressure people for a sale and we are more than happy to provide impartial technical advice to anyone who calls us. If we don’t think a particular product will work for you, we will let you know (even if you are willing to buy the product!). We aim to do right by our customers and anyone who picks up the phone for help.
